About Judith
Judith Cookis Rubens, formerly a Midwest-based arts critic, is now covering her local community outside Raleigh, N.C.
As a freelancer, she’s done everything from interviewing Broadway performers to covering shopping/dining/fashion trends, to penning personal essays. Expert with tight deadlines, source relationships, and clean copy, Judith also loves finding compelling human-interest stories.
Judith launched her journalism career covering city politics, crime and education for suburban Chicago newspapers including the Daily Herald.
She earned her journalism degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Triangle Association of Freelancers (TAF).
When she’s not writing, Judith can be found reading, attending concerts or theater performances, dancing or doing yoga. Judith lives outside Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband and twin sons.
